2008 WSDOT Remembers
WSDOT employees participated in a flag lowering ceremony on April 25 at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Headquarters Building at the Flag Plaza facing Capitol Way. The ceremony honored WSDOT workers killed or injured in work zones.
At 8:30 flags were lowered to half staff by Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond and Chief Engineer Jerry Lenzi. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the first floor foyer with information about roadway safety. A video tribute to our fallen workers played on the new first floor video wall.
The Give ‘em a Brake Campaign focuses attention on the continuing importance of work zone safety. As part of the program, WSDOT employees are encouraged to go orange to promote work zone safety.
