Algorithm Design, User Interface, and Optimization Procedure for a Fuzzy Logic Ramp Metering Algorithm: A Training Manual for Freeway Operations Engineers

Description: This training manual describes in detail the fuzzy logic ramp metering algorithm implemented system-wide in the greater Seattle area. The method for defining the inputs to the controller and optimizing the performance of the algorithm is explained. Instructions are given for observing and tuning the algorithm through the user interface. Examples of how to solve various problems are also provided.
