WSDOT - Olympic Region Projects

I-5/SR 16 Westbound Nalley Valley - A brand new I-5/SR 16 connection will untangle one of Pierce County's worst bottlenecks.
I-5 Port of Tacoma Road to the King County Line - Add HOV Lanes - This project extends the regional HOV system into Pierce County.
I-5 Grand Mound to Maytown - Bridge work continues through the winter on this project that widens eight miles of I-5, south of Olympia, from two lanes to three lanes in both directions.
SR 509 Puyallup River Bridge - Repair work reduces the roadway to two lanes between Portland Avenue and Port of Tacoma Road until June 2010.

Temporary eastbound roadway under construction.

Later in November, eastbound SR 16 traffic shifts to a temporary roadway. The traffic shift allows crews to progress with bridge construction while keeping traffic moving. The temporary roadway is under construction in the foreground of this photo.
