Overview
This Safety Improvement-Collision Reduction Project is located in King and Chelan Counties on 39 miles of US 2 between Deception Falls, 8 miles west of Stevens Pass, east to the mouth of Tumwater Canyon at Leavenworth.
Work began May 8, 2006 and was complete on June 12.

By Reducing head-on and loss of control collisions and improving centerline visibility. 6,400 recessed pavement markers were replaced as part of this project.

Partnerships & Cooperation
All 2-lane corridors in the North Central Region were analyzed for collision reduction potential with rumble strips and this section ranked highest. Centerline rumble strips have an injury accident and property damage accident reduction rate of 25%.
Funding
The project was advertised for bids in February, 2006. Two bids were opened on March 23rd and on March 27th, Apply-A-Line, Inc. was awarded contract # 7116 for $145,383.10.

- Pre-Existing Gas Tax - $230,000
- Total funding from all sources - $230,000
