Project Description
This project improves 0.79 miles of SR 28 by constructing a two way left turn lane. This project also adds a storm sewer system, illumination and guardrail.

Recent Progress
The design for the mainline SR 28B portion of the project was put on the shelf in October 2002. Began the design of the storm sewer system to convey runoff to a treatment pond near the Columbia River in February 2004. Received survey data reduction from HQ Photogrammetry on 2/4/2004 for storm sewer portion of the project. Coordination with Douglas County for storm sewer route easements and possible partnering are ongoing.

Design Construction Impacts
Groundbreaking is scheduled for Spring of 2007. A box-culvert needed to widen the roadway at the irrigation canal crossing may be broken out as a separate contract in order to complete that work while the canal is empty (October – March). Utility agreements scheduled for completion August 2004.

Biological assessment scheduled for completion in August 2004.

Impacts to Traffic
This work will require one lane, flagger controlled traffic during construction. Traffic control for the storm sewer TBD when route is defined.
