SR 20 - Mazama Area - Fish Barrier

Project Status - Complete
Project Map View entire map This project removed a barrier to migrating fish in Okanogan County where Little Boulder Creek passes under SR 20 at mile post 181.35, about two miles east of Mazama.

Overview
This Environmental Retrofit Project a fish barrier under SR 20 where the undercrossing of Little Boulder Creek, a 6-foot by 9-foot, steel structural plate arch, was replaced with a 26-foot bottomless steel pipe arch allowing fish passage in a more natural environment.
Construction began September 6th and was complete October 24th.

Partnerships & Cooperation
the undercrossing of Little Boulder Creek was identified as deficient for fish passage by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Funding
This project was advertised for bids on April 18th and eight bids were opened on May 12th. Snelson Companies Inc. was awarded contract #6979 on May 16th for $409,435.00, 11% under the engineering estimate.

This project was funded through the following sources:

Pre-Existing Gas Tax - $545,000
Total funding from all sources - $545,000
