August 31 - Setting steel girders to widen a portion of the NE 124th St. bridge (over the northbound exit to Totem Lake Blvd.).

August 31 - We've placed the steel for the NE 128th bridge support on the east side of I-405, and are preparing to set the forms (laying against the slope, right) which will hold the concrete while it sets. See crews pouring the footing two and a half weeks ago.

August 29 - Concrete wall panels have been placed in front of steel piles and timber to form a permanent retaining wall that will separate the northbound on-ramps at the NE 124th interchange.

August 26 - Inserting soil nails (steel bars to anchor the slope) next to the NE 124th St. bridge. View a more completed soil nail wall below.

August 24 - Two weeks into the seven-week closure of the northbound on-ramp from westbound NE 124th, crews have removed a large amount of pavement and are hard at work realigning the ramp and building retaining walls.

August 23 - Realigning the northbound on-ramp from westbound NE 124th St. You can see from this photo that we are lowering the ramp significantly.

August 19 - Drilling shafts for widening I-405 at NE 132nd. Crews use a very large crane to vibrate a metal cylinder into the ground, forming a shaft. We need to close all lanes of NE 132nd under the bridge nightly to provide room for this work.

August 19 - Above the northbound exit to Totem Lake Blvd. crews are installing steel to widen this portion of the NE 124th bridge.

August 19 - A soil nail wall under the NE 124th bridge.  Workers use machinery to insert steel bars (soil nails) horizontally into the slope,  then spray concrete around these anchors.  We're building this wall so we can lower the roadway underneath NE 124th.

August 12 - Pouring the concrete for the footing of the first NE 128th bridge support, on the east side of I-405. See the excavation 9 days earlier.

August 10 - Spraying concrete on a slope next to NE 124th Street.  This will seal the slope and help prevent erosion.

August 3 - Excavation for the first NE 128th bridge support on the east side of I-405.

August 1 - Construction of the new retaining wall between the northbound on-ramps at the NE 124th interchange (see July 25 photo).  The ramp to the upper right will be lowered and moved closer to the wall so traffic entering northbound I-405 from westbound NE 124th can bypass the traffic signal at the upper right in this photo.
