Closure 1 – NE 128th Street intersection closure

Schedule
Closed Jan. 8, 2007. On April 2, 2007, we re-opened the north and west legs of this intersection and opened the east leg (to the new NE 128th Street bridge). The south leg of the intersection led to Closure 2.
Utility work delay
We estimated that this closure would last eight weeks. Our contractor was well on schedule to reopen the intersection on time. However due to the winter wind and snow storms, private utility companies responsible for relocation of the existing overhead and underground lines (electrical, telephone, cable, gas, etc.) at the intersection were called away to perform emergency work. The utility companies rescheduled their work to move utility lines for construction projects, including the work on 116th Avenue NE. The intersection closure was extended to allow the utility companies to recover their schedules.
