Crews recently finished building 250 feet of natural streambed below the new culvert under I-405. Trees removed during construction were used to help create natural habitat in the new stream. Hundreds of shrubs and trees will be planted near the stream, beginning in November.
Crews continue to construct and rehabilitate three existing wetlands - including two adjacent to Forbes Lake and one at Thrashers Corner. Crews will begin planting vegetation here in November.
NE 116th Street was closed under the freeway October 20-23 while construction crews demolished a portion of the northbound bridge. Crews completed the demolition 26 hours earlier than anticipated. NE 116th Street is scheduled to be closed again the weekend of November 17-20.
