Woody debris placed in the newly consturcted natural streambed provides habitat for cutthroat trout and other wildlife.


Median paving
Crews are paving the median in order to widen I-405 through Kirkland. A great deal
of work goes on at night to help keep traffic moving during the day.

Crews working on the deck pour
Crews are pouring the concrete on the deck of the new I-405 bridge over NE 116th
Street. The last section of old bridge was recently demolished. Bridge demolition and construction occurs in phases to keep I-405 open during construction.

Drivers will be traveling over the new NE 116th bridge by this fall; the old bridge
had to be demolished to widen I-405.

Kirkland planter boxes
Crews are building planter boxes on the east and west sides of the NE 116th Street
bridge. The planter boxes, in addition to a new sidewalk, lighting, and architectural
bridge panels will improve safety and aesthetics within the area.
