Recent Progress
Engineering for this Nickel project is 35% complete toward the Design/Build package for the Request For Proposal.  Right-of-way needs have been assessed.  Environmental Documentation scoping held Jan. 2004.  Three of the 21 environmental discipline reports have been completed for internal review.  Remaining reports expected by July.  Held first MAPT (Multi-Agency Permit Team) meeting in May to begin permitting process.

Design Construction Impacts

This is a widening project that will be constructed in two stages.  Stage 1 provides one additional lane in both the northbound and southbound directions from NE 85th to NE 124th.  Stage 2 provides one additional northbound lane from NE 70th to NE 85th and one additional southbound lane from SR 522 to NE 124th and from NE 85th to SR 520.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
A corridor wide Record of Decision for programmatic FEIS  received in Oct 2002.  Environmental documentation began Jan 2004.  Completed 3 of 21 discipline reports for internal review.  Began MAPT team coordination and review.

Impacts to Traffic

Widening work is to the outside of the existing roadways so it is expected that Impacts to the traveling public can be minimized during construction.
