I-405 - Bothell/Canyon Park Freeway Station - Project Photos

Nov. 2007 - Pedestrians come from the park-and-ride across the freeway on the new pedestrian bridge to this bus stop on the southbound I-405 on-ramp. Only buses are allowed use this lane on the ramp.

Nov. 2007 - At the park-and-ride end of the pedestrian bridge, users can ride the elevator or take the stairs.

May 2007 - The stair and elevator tower is painted green rather than the typical gray so it fits in better with the natural environment. This is one element of the context sensitive solutions approach to design for new projects on the I-405 corridor.

May 2007 - Another element of the I-405 context sensitive solutions (CSS) is the curved lines of the fence along the pedestrian bridge. It is inspired by shapes found in nature. The third CSS element is the fluted columns of the bridge.

April 2007 - Work continues on the pedestrian bridge, seen here from the west side of I-405. The new bus flyer stop will be on this side. On the left side of this photo, in the background, you can see the stair/elevator tower on the other side of the freeway at the park-and-ride.

April 2007 - We've placed steel for the roof over the pedestrian bridge.

February 2007 - Crews are erecting the steel structure for the stair tower at the park-and-ride on the east side of the freeway. In this photo, the stairs will be on the right and the elevator will be on the left. The concrete structure will house the mechanical controls for the elevator.

January 2007 - After setting the bridge girders, crews built a work deck before beginning construction on the permanent bridge deck.

January 2007 - The columns for the new pedestrian bridge are designed to fit with the look and feel of new structures along the I-405 corridor. This is part of an effort to ensure that when we develop freeway projects, we consider community values and environmental goals equally with transportation. This approach is called Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS). See CSS incorporated into the I-405 Totem Lake Freeway Station Project.

January 2007 - Crews closed all lanes of northbound I-405 to set the girders for the new pedestrian bridge over the freeway. We set the girders over southbound I-405 in December.

October 2006 - Crews placing concrete for the base of the elevator tower on the east side of I-405 (near the park-and-ride). The tower will provide access to the pedestrian bridge over the freeway.

October 2006 - Crews have placed wooden forms around a steel cage to hold the concrete as it sets. This will form one of the supports for the pedestrian bridge over the freeway.

October 2006 - Crews pump concrete from a truck through a long arm to fill the forms around the steel support for one of the pedestrian bridge columns.
