I-205 - Mill Plain Exit - 112th Connector

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2005

Project Title & Location
I-205 Mill Plain/112th Avenue Connector

Project Description
This project will provide a direct connection to NE 112th Avenue from the off ramp of northbound I-205 to westbound Mill Plain Boulevard. It is a partnership project with the City of Vancouver.

Contractor/Consultant
Skillings-Connolly Inc.

Recent Progress

The city of Vancouver has hired Skillings-Connolly Inc. as the design engineers.  The city is responsible for the design phase of the project, with WSDOT providing general oversight.  Skillings-Connolly is continuing design work. A 90% plan review was conducted in August. Design work is anticipated to be complete by December 2005. WSDOT will administer the construction phase of the project.  The start date for construction is contingent on the Access Hearing and Noise Study currently being completed. Both were on hold from May 24th to August 4th pending an analysis of independent utility between the newly funded I205/Mill Plain to NE 28th St project and this project.

Design Construction Impacts
The noise study could indicate mitigation is required, necessitating the addition of noise walls.  There is a potential schedule impact due to the access hearing and noise study that were on hold for 2 months, which would result in a right of way and advertisement delay.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Noise study to be completed

Impacts to Traffic

There will be impacts during construction including detour routes.
