Project Facts
- Traffic signals will be added at the off ramp terminals to improve movement at the interchange.
- A free right turn will be added to the eastbound off ramp for vehicles heading south on Road 100.
- Construction is funded by an appropriation from the Federal SAFETEA-LU Act.
May 2008
This project was completed and open to traffic in November 2007.
This project will improve efficiency and safety at the I-182 and Road 100 interchange by providing channelization and adding signals at the ramp intersections with Road 100.
Why is WSDOT
improving the interchange?
Franklin County and the City of Pasco have experienced tremendous growth in the last few years. The existing interchange experiences backups and delays during peak travel periods. Revising this interchange will improve the functionality of the interchange.
The End Result
Traffic signals will be added and channelization will be revised at the intersections of the ramps on Road 100 to allow traffic to travel more smoothly through the interchange.
Future work at this interchange may include adding a loop ramp from Road 100 northbound to I-182 westbound with a collector distributor lane, but this additional construction is currently unfunded.
Project Benefits
- Safety - Conflicts and backups will be reduced with the addition of the new signals.
- Congestion Relief - Traffic will be able to flow through the intersection more smoothly due to the signals and revised channelization.
What is the project timeline?
The contract has been awarded to Sierra Electric Inc. and construction is scheduled to begin in early June of 2007.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
We anticipate revising this interchange will reduce collisions and improve traffic flow and safety.
Will this project impact tribal resources?
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
WSDOT will consult with the appropriate tribal nations during the project design and construction.

This project is funded through the following sources:
- Existing Funds - $1.4 million
- City of Pasco - $0.3 million
- Total Funding Available from all sources - $1.7 million
WSDOT is in the process of submitting revisions to the Governor’s proposed 2007-2009 budget. The construction funding available for this project is less than originally anticipated.
