South of downtown construction
Second SR 99 bridge
Crews are building foundations for the new northbound SR 99 bridge, in the footprint of the demolished viaduct. Visit the South Holgate Street to South King Street project website for details.
SR 99 tunnel
Mobilization for tunnel boring machine launch pit construction has begun. This work is occurring on state-owned land to the west of the stadiums.
South Spokane Street Viaduct widening
WSDOT contributed funding to this City of Seattle project to help keep traffic moving during the south end viaduct replacement. Learn about closures for this work.
Waterfront construction
See where construction is affecting parking along the waterfront.
SR 99 tunnel
Southbound traffic along Alaskan Way South is routed underneath the viaduct. The detour keeps traffic moving on the waterfront as crews use part of Alaskan Way for the tunnel work zone.
Transmission line relocation
Crews working for WSDOT are relocating electrical transmission lines near the viaduct, between Railroad Way South and Yesler Way. Seattle City Light crews are relocating the same lines north of Yesler Way.
North of downtown construction
SR 99 tunnel
Crews are relocating utilities near the north end of the tunnel route, east of Seattle Center, resulting in parking closures and detours in the area. This work is preparation for construction of the tunnel’s north portal.
Mercer Street
The City of Seattle is creating a two-way route along Mercer Street to improve access to Fremont/Interbay and the SR 99 tunnel. Lane closures and detours are noted on the project website.
