Why is WSDOT
paving and replacing shoulder barrier along US 97?
Sections of pavement along this 13 mile corridor are aged and deteriorated. Crews will also replace single strand cable barrier with concrete barrier in certain locations along the shoulder to be more effective at stopping errant vehicles.
The End Result
This project replaces the asphalt lanes and shoulder along sections of the corridor from Wapato to Toppenish on US 97. This project also restores striping and delineation.
Safety. This project places concrete barrier on the shoulder in certain locations to control errant vehicles and limit highway access to approved locations.

Scheduled start: Spring 2013
Scheduled completion: Summer 2013
Project signage will reflect the cost of construction engineering, project bid award and sales tax.
