- Weekly Construction Update
- Awarded to the Max J. Kuney company of Spokane, WA with a construction bid of $6,917,161.
- Funded by the Transportation Infrastructure Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant.
This project completes the interchange at Parksmith Road near the Mead community, north of Spokane. It includes final grading, gravel sub-surface, and final paving of the northbound and southbound on and off ramps. Most of the basic grading of the ramps was a component of an earlier NSC grading project.
Why is WSDOT
building this interchange?
The Parksmith interchange project is the final component in the northern 5 mile section of the North Spokane Corridor.
The End Result
The Parksmith Interchange provides connectivity to the retail and residential Mead community as well as the nearby commercial and industrial property.
Project Benefits
Completion of this segment of the NSC will provide lasting, long term economic benefits to the Spokane area.
Supports our state investment of completing a multimodal corridor that includes a limited access highway, pedestrian/bicycle facilities, park and ride lots, and provides right-of-way for future high capacity transit.
Reduces congestion on our local arterials by creating a direct route for vehicle and freight traffic passing through Spokane.
It provides a direct benefit to several large industrial parcels adjacent to the freeway.
What is the project timeline?
The work is underway as of Fall 2011 and will be completed in mid to late 2012.
