September 2008Crews finished repairing and re-paving the roadway the first week of September.Contractors worked around the clock to remove the 6.5 feet thick pavement.August 2008The completed buttress will help stabilize the hillside, preventing further movement under the road.Crews completed building the rock buttress the week of August 21. After blasting a notch into the bedrock, crews place loose rocks and boulders to form the rock buttress.The ground is slightly swelled after the blasting.Crews drilled holes to place the dynamite prior to blasting.July 2008Crews are relocating overhead utilities as they prepare to start excavation work.Sunset Falls Project AreaThe roadway embankment under US 2 near Sunset Falls is slowly sliding below the roadway surface. We will build a large rock and gravel wall to stabilize the embankment.This photo is looking west at the project area.
