Project Status

Summer 2008

This project is currently in the design phase. It will be advertised for private contractor bids in the fall of 2008 and construction will follow in the spring of 2009. It has been combined with the Lincoln Rock State Park to Orondo Paving project to save money.

This safety project constructs a passing lane on US 2/97 from MP 133.58 to MP 136.09 in western Douglas County.

Why is WSDOT constructing a passing lane on US 2/97?
There have been numerous passing related collisions along this corridor due to limited passing opportunities. This project will provide a new and safer place to pass.

The End Result
A safer and more efficient roadway. This Project will reduce the risk of head on collisions by providing additional passing opportunities.

Project Benefits

  • Creates a safe passing opportunity for motorists
  • Reduction in crossover accidents in this corridor.
  • Increased mobility in the corridor.
