There have been numerous passing related collisions along this corridor due to limited passing opportunities. This Safety Improvement project constructed a passing lane on US 2/97 from MP 133.58 to MP 136.09 in western Douglas County. Construction began June 8, paving was complete in October and the project was complete Nov. 20, 2009. This project was combined with the Lincoln Rock State Park to Orondo Paving project to save money.
By reducing the risk of head on collisions, providing additional passing opportunities.
By increasing mobility.
Partnerships & Cooperation
Safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the construction is underway. Both a comprehensive traffic control plan and a work zone safety plan were implemented to protect travelers and workers.
