This Safety Improvement Collision Reduction project addresses a High Accident Location on US 2/97 at Cashmere.

Why is WSDOT installing a traffic signal and advanced warning beacons at the Goodwin/Hay Canyon Road intersection?
The purpose of this project is to reduce conflicts between turning vehicles and through traffic to improve safety by reducing collisions.

The 2002 US 2/97 Safety Corridor Study (pdf 1.86 mb) recommends short and long term projects to address the High Accident Locations and High Accident Corridors between the Big Y interchange and Wenatchee. This project was recommended in the study.

The End Result
The completed project will install a traffic signal, advanced warning beacons, illumination, flexible guidepost and new pavement markings.

Project Benefits

  • Reduced collision potential for motorists
  • A safer highway environment for turning traffic
  • Safer access to the highway from Goodwin and Hay Canyon Roads
  • A safer intersection for through traffic

What is the project timeline?
