Overview
Through this maintenance project we brought five bridges in the Everett area on Interstate 5, US Route 2 and State Route 526 up to current earthquake standards by installing steel jackets on the support columns. This work ensures the safety of everyone using these highways.
 | Improves Safety
Improving the bridges reduces the risk of major failures during an earthquake. This keeps drivers safe and traffic flowing.
|
 | Protects Environment
Crews filtered storm water runoff during construction. This minimizes our construction's effect on the environment and nearby communities.

Partnerships & Cooperation
In September 2005 we awarded the contract to Wilder Construction of Everett. Crews began work in March 2006 and finished in March 2007
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
This process is not applicable because the project does not affect tribal lands.
To learn more about Section 106 Tribal Consultation (also called government-to-government tribal consultation process) please visit WSDOT's Tribal Liaison page, where you'll find the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan and WSDOT's Tribal Consultation Policy (Adopted by the Transportation Commission on Feb. 19, 2003).
