Project Facts
- This project is scheduled to be advertised for private contractor bids in May of 2008.
- This project is currently scheduled for simultaneous construction with the US-2 Wenatchee - Pedestrian and Bike Trail Connection on the other end of the bridge.
- The new trail connection should be finished in the fall of 2008.
Summer 2008
This project is scheduled to be advertised for bids on June 30th, 2008 (delayed due to Shoreline permit) with construction to be complete by fall.
A related project on the west end of the bridge-
US 2 - Wenatchee - Pedestrian and Bike Trail Connection- will be constructed under a separate contract this summer, as well.
These projects will make significant improvements to the safety and accessibility of the area's trail system.
This project will create a connection from the Apple Capital Loop Trail at the east end of the Odabashian bridge to the north.
Why is WSDOT
constructing this trail connection?
There is no safe access from the Apple Capitol Loop Trail and the north side of the east end of the Odabashian bridge.
The End Result
A safe route for pedestrians and bicyclists, under US 2/97 at the east end of the Odabashian Bridge to access trails, paths and roads to the north.
Project Benefits
Improves safety through the separation of bicyclists / pedestrians and vehicles.
Provides a traffic separated connection between the local street system north of US 2 and the Loop Trail to allow safe environmentally friendly commuting to the urban area.

The project is scheduled to be advertised for private contractor bids on June 30th, 2008 with construction to be complete by fall.

As preliminary designs are refined, environmental issues will be evaluated and appropriate mitigation developed. Increasing safety is one of our priorities
In addition to the increased safety for bicyclists and pedestrians using the ACLT, the project will include a comprehensive traffic and work zone safety plan when construction is underway.
Will this project impact tribal resources?
Close communication with the tribal nations will continue throughout the project planning now, and as it is constructed. WSDOT seeks to address the concerns of tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
