The goal of the traffic safety corridor program is to reduce fatal and disabling collisions on roadways with significant safety needs. Roadways chosen to become safety corridors must have local level support and a history of significant collision problems (pdf 2.2 mb) that can be addressed with low-cost, short-term solutions.

A community-based task force provides leadership in identifying and solving problems along the safety corridor.
