Traveling US 2 this summer? Be prepared to stop

The Roboflagger reminds you to use extra caution in construction zones
Whether you live along US 2 or use the highway to reach your favorite fishing hole or hiking trail, expect to see our crews at work this summer.
This summer we'll be out on the highway from Monroe to Stevens Pass working on several projects to improve driver safety and preserve the roadway:
If you're planning a trip on US 2 this summer, allow yourself some extra time - particularly if you're traveling during the week. We do our best to keep traffic moving during construction, which means we'll do most of our work during weekdays and weeknights.
To keep yourself and construction crews safe, watch for flaggers (or the Roboflagger above) and follow their directions. Expect single lane closures, alternating traffic and rolling slowdowns as crews make improvements to the highway.
Even when you don't see our crews working, much of US 2 will be an active construction zone. Stay alert and be prepared for shifted lanes, detours, and reduced speed limits.

Next steps for US 2
In addition to this summer's construction, we're also working with the community on two other efforts to improve safety on US 2: the US 2 Traffic Safety Corridor project and an additional $10 million in funding for safety projects from Monroe to Gold Bar. Some near-term improvements, such as clearing vegetation, improving lighting and upgrading signs, will begin this summer. As part of the traffic safety corridor project, you'll see extra enforcement patrols out on the highway this summer, especially during fairs and festivals.
