  • WSDOT has received $10 million in state and federal funding to build a median barrier on US 2 between Bickford Avenue and the Pilchuck River Bridge. Construction is scheduled to occur in the summer of 2019
  • The 2015 Connecting Washington transportation package allocated $17 million for corridor safety improvements. Analysis and design work will begin in 2019 with construction of identified improvements scheduled to start in 2022.

WSDOT invested nearly $60 million from 2008-2017 to build more than a dozen safety and traffic improvement projects on US 2 between Everett and Stevens Pass after it was designated a traffic safety corridor.

WSDOT and a community-based task force identified these projects as part of the US 2 Route Development Plan (RDP), which was completed in November 2007. The RDP identified areas where improvements can enhance safety, traffic flow and reduce collisions on US 2. There were 55 projects in the RDP. Several other projects that were not part of the plan were also completed.
