Project Status

August 2008

  • Completed in late June.
  • Rest area parking lot sealing included.
  • Poe Asphalt Paving of Clarkston was awarded the contract with a construction bid of $2,774,794.

This Roadway Preservation project repaves about 15 miles of US 2 starting at the Town of Creston and finishing near the intersection of Rocklyn Road.  Also, work on SR 28 inside of the city of Davenport.

Why is WSDOT paving this section of US 2?
This section of US 2 is in need of pavement restoration due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt. Spot safety and draingage items will also be incorporated to improve the overall performance of the roadway.

The End Result
This project will restore the structural integrity of the pavement. It will also improve safety by installing new, higher visibility striping, installing centerline recessed pavement markers, and shoulder rumble strips.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
Besides the safety benefits of the project itself, safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the work is underway. Both a comprehensive traffic control plan and a work zone safety plan are being prepared to protect travelers and workers.

Will this project impact tribal resources?
No cultural or archeological impacts have been identified. WSDOT addresses the concerns of tribal nations using the process outlined in section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
