On Dec. 27, 2009, a semi carrying a large concrete panel crashed on US 2 east of Gold Bar. The 56,000-pound concrete panel slid off the semi and crashed onto the railing of the Anderson Creek Bridge. On Dec. 30, crews removed the panel. Crews completed emergency repairs on Jan. 7, 2010. This spring, crews will make permanent repairs to the bridge. To do this, they will need to continuously close one lane of US 2 over the Anderson Creek Bridge for up to 19 days. The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 35 mph.
Why is WSDOT
making permanent repairs to the Anderson Creek Bridge?
In January 2010, crews make emergency repairs so the bridge could open to traffic. Now, crews need to make permanent repairs so the bridge railing meets federal standards.
The End Result
Crews will make permanent repairs to the bridge rail so that it meets federal standards. Crews will also grind down and reinforce the bridge deck.
Project Benefits
We are bringing the bridge railing up to current federal standards. The project will extend the life of the bridge and improve safety for drivers
