US 2/97 Peshastin East-Interchange - Peshastin

Project Description
Construct a new interchange at the junction of US 2 and US 97. This intersection is located 15 miles West of Wenatchee and 5 miles East of Leavenworth.

Contractor/Consultant
KLB Construction Inc.

Recent Progress

The project was awarded on 11/17/07 for $1.66M under the engineers estimate.  The contract was executed on 12/12/07.  Utility relocation work continues and the contractor expects to begin work around the first of April. 

 

Design Construction Impacts
Utility relocations will include fiber optic, power, domestic water, and irrigation lines are currently underway.  Once the Contractor starts, there will be impacts to traffic on US 2 and US 97.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
A Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) has been issued under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).  A Notice of Action was issued on October 21, 2006.  No responses were received.

Impacts to Traffic
Traffic will be impacted on US 97, US 2 and on local county roads.  On US 2, traffic will be detoured or shifted onto either side of the existing highway during construction.  On US 97, traffic will not be impacted until the major tie-ins are made due to the proximity of the interchange to the existing US2/97 intersection.
