Recent Progress

Right of Way property acquisition continues.  Acquisition is complete for six of sixteen parcels.  The Type A Hydraulic Report and Design Documentation Package have been completed and approved.  The design team has got the Plans and Estimate 85% complete.  They are working on staging plans and coordinating with the local transit company in regards to two bus stops.  We met with the Chelan County Public Works director to gain endorsement of the work on County Road facilities.

Design Construction Impacts
Approximately 16 parcels will be impacted by this project.  There will be impacts to orchards and local businesses.  Utility relocations will include fiber optic, power, domestic water, and irrigation lines.  A park and ride lot and transit stop will be impacted with the location of the interchange and will therefore be reconstructed.   Purchasing Right of Way began in the Spring of 2006.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
A Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) has been issued under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).  A Notice of Action was issued on October 21, 2006.  No responses were received.

Impacts to Traffic
Traffic will be impacted on US 97, US 2 and on local county roads.  On US 2, traffic will be detoured or shifted onto either side of the existing highway during construction.  On US 97, traffic will not be impacted until the major tie ins are made due to the proximity of the interchange to the existing US2/97 intersection.
