US 2/97 Peshastin East-Interchange - Peshastin

Project Description
Construct a new interchange at the junction of US 2 and US 97. This intersection is located 15 miles West of Wenatchee and 5 miles East of Leavenworth.

Contractor/Consultant
KLB Construction Inc.

Recent Progress

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 3rd and the contractor started construction on April 7th.  US 2 traffci was shifted to the temporary detour on May 8th and bridge construction began soon after.

Design Construction Impacts
Blewett Junction Road and Doghouse Road are permanently closed at the intersection with US 2.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
A Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) has been issued under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).  A Notice of Action was issued on October 21, 2006.  No responses were received.

Impacts to Traffic
A temporay signal at the US 2/97 intersection has been activated and traffic is rerouted onto the bypass roadway on the north side of US 2.intersection.  A 35 MPH reduced speed limit is in effect through the work zone.  This project is one of four chose for a photo speed enforcement test this year.
