- Left turn channelization will be constructed at mile post 132.3
- This project includes installation of 11-1/2 miles of centerline rumblestrip.
Fall 2008
This project is scheduled to be advertised for private contractor bids on January 20th, 2009 with construction to follow in the spring of 2009. It is being combined with the
South of Orondo Passing Lane project to save money.
This preservation project paves 10.75 miles of US 2/97 from 2 miles north of East Wenatchee, north to Orondo.
Why is WSDOT
paving US 2/97?
This project upgrades the structural intergrity and extends the life of the existing pavement, improving the ride as well as addressing safety issues.
The End Result
The project will preserve the roadway and improve safety.
Project Benefits
- Extends roadway life.
- Provides a smoother driving surface.
- Constructs a left turn channelization approximately 1/4 mile South of the Lincoln Rock State Park entrance reducing vehicle accidents by providing a refuge for northbound vehicles turning into BJ's convenience store and gas station.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
Besides the safety benefits of the project itself, safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the work is underway.Both a comprehensive traffic control plan and a work zone safety plan will be produced to protect travelers and workers.
Will this project impact tribal resources?
No impacts have been identified. WSDOT addresses the concerns of tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
