Status

Spring 2016

  • Construction started May 9 to restore the damaged sections of White Pass.
  • Drivers could experience delays up to 15 minutes on each side of the pass weekdays only.
  • Drivers can check the weekly construction update for impacts and delays.

Why is WSDOT restoring US 12 over White Pass?
Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews and contractors Granite Construction, DBM and Stripe Rite worked around the clock for two weeks to reopen White Pass after a series of storm-related washouts and rockslides closed the highway Dec. 9, 2015.

The End Result
Currently, there are two areas, one east and one west of the pass where traffic is reduced to a single lane.

Crews will return in spring 2016 to restore US 12 to full capacity.

Project Benefits
Repairs will increase the reliability of this highway and improve traffic flow.
