Recent Progress
Design work is 50% complete. The land exchange between Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Nature Conservancy has been completed. Biological Assessment sent to Federal Highway Administration to initiate Endangered Species Act / Formal Consultation on 3/26/07. While meeting with the U.S. Forest Service and Washington State Fish and Wildlife on April 10, 2007 we made plans with them to present our design concept to the rafting companies in August. Our goal is to get the rafting communities input on take out areas. Preliminary bridge plans have been started.

Design Construction Impacts
The Cost Risk Analysis / Value Engineering Study identified several risks that, in addition to the escalation in construction costs, could push project costs beyond the approved budget. At the 90% confidence level, the total project cost could be $13.1 million compared to the $10.6 million budgeted. Recent nationwide price escalation for work and material and inflation has increased the overall cost of this project by approximately $2.7 million over the $10.6 million budgeted.
