Recent activities include completion of stage 2 bridge construction resulting in overall bridge structure completion.  Pavement resurfacing of the westbound travel lanes.  Placement of guradrail and permanent signing.  Removal of temporary striping and placement or permanent pavement markings.  Project complete and open to unrestricted traffic flow, August 6, 2004.  Remaining work will require 2 work days to seed and fertilize the equipment staging areas and bridge embankments.

Design Construction Impacts

On April 20, 2004,  the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife issued an amended Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA), advancing the in-water work period to June 15 from July 15, 2004.  The amended HPA permit advanced the project completion date by one month.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

The Federal Highway Administration performed a construction review on May 18, 2004, finding construction activities in compliance wth the HPA permit.

Impacts to Traffic
Construction activities during this quarter were located off the roadway.  With the exception of a limited number of lane closures to allow access for construction vehicles, traffic impacts remain minimal.
