US 12 – Phase 4, Walla Walla to Wallula Planning Study, Walla Walla County

Project Description
This planning study will prepare initial environmental documentation to determine the preferred corridor alignment for US 12 from the Wallula junction to Walla Walla, addressing congestion and safety needs for the highway.

Transpo Group - Traffic Study;  David Evans and Associates - Environmental Documentation

Recent Progress

The Transpo Group finished an analysis of existing and proposed traffic volumes in June.  The computer services of Quantum were purchased to assist the State in analysis of alignments for Phase 8 (Wallula to Nine Mile Hill).  A corridor for the further engineering and environmental analysis for Phase 6 (McDonald Road to Walla Walla) was developed and shown to impacted property owners in May.

Design Construction Impacts

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
David Evans and Associates began conducting  Environmental Resource Studies in June.  The studies include wetland, socio-economic, archealogical, historical, endangered species, and the study of other resources as dictated by SEPA and NEPA.
