US 12 - Wallula to Walla Walla Corridor Study

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2006

Project Title & Location
US 12 – Phase 4, Walla Walla to Wallula Planning Study, Walla Walla County

Project Description
This planning study will prepare initial environmental documentation to determine the preferred corridor alignment for US 12 from the Wallula junction to Walla Walla, addressing congestion and safety needs for the highway.

Contractor/Consultant
David Evans and Associates conducted the Preliminary Environmental Investigation.

Recent Progress
WSDOT analyzed all of the preliminary environmental and engineering data for the corridors under consideration.  WSDOT has eliminated the middle and south (existing) corridor from further consideration.  We will continue the environmental documentation of the remaining alternative, the northern corridor.  This level of analysis will likely require an environmental assessment to document the environmental impacts.
