A group of 35 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony
A group of 35 local residents, contractors, city officials, and WSDOT employees attended the Coppei Creek ribbon cutting in Waitsburg on November 30, 2005.

Overview
WSDOT replaced the existing Coppei Creek Bridge with a new wider and longer bridge that will allow flood waters to pass underneath it.  US 12 was reconstructed to tie in with the new bridge.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Construction of the new bridge over Coppei Creek and building a dike downstream will minimize flood damage and improve the economic development in the Waitsburg area.

Partnerships & Cooperation
A flood control dike will be built upstream through a cooperative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Waitsburg.

WSDOT worked closely with tribal officials to identify and minimize adverse impacts to areas of cultural, archeological or anthropological significance.  When applicable, we addressed any concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan
