US 12 - Clemons Road Vicinity

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending June 2007

Project Title & Location

US 12 - Clemons Road Vicinity
Grays Harbor County

Project Description
This project will make safety improvements to US 12 between milepost 7.0 and 8.0, including the vicinity of the Clemons Road Intersection, and other high-risk areas along this corridor.

Contractor/Consultant
The project has not been advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
Preliminary concepts were developed to reduce the severity and rate of accidents, and to improve traffic movements, by enhancing the roadway and the channelization for this intersection. Subsequent changes in traffic patterns, accident rates and land use forced the reevaluation of the improvements to the corridor. New traffic counts were conducted in the summer of 2006, and the analysis has been used to develop appropriate improvements.

Design Construction Impacts
Some improvements being considered may require the relocation of buried and overhead utilities.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Some improvements being considered for this project will impact storm water runoff and roadside ditches.  Any necessary storm water treatment plans will be developed as part of this contract.

Impacts to Traffic
During construction, the public can expect minor delays as traffic will be controlled by a combination of lane closures and flagging.
