US 12 - 40th Avenue Interchange Improvements

Yakima, Washington

Project Description
This project improves safety and traffic flow at the US 12/40th Avenue Interchange. Improvements include a second lane for the eastbound on-ramp, efficient signal phasing, and improved connections between the Yakima Greenway and local bike and pedestrian pathways. These upgrades will increase capacity, improve traffic mobility, and encourage commercial and industrial development in this area.

Project not yet advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
Work has begun on obtaining project environment documents.  Right of way mapping is complete so we can begin property acquisition.  WSDOT is negotiating with the City of Yakima the development of channelization and signal plans.

Design Construction Impacts
No impacts this quarter.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The project will be a SEPA - Determination of Non-Significance.  The project will treat new stormwater runoff onsite as a result of new roadway constructed.
