N. 110th Street to N. 145th Street

Note: Accident data is for three-year period, 1999-2001.

Traffic

High levels of congestion during peak periods

Accidents

  • 490 total accidents
  • 14 disabling, 0 fatal
  • 31% were rear-end accidents
  • 30% were driveway-related accidents
  • 32% were angle or sideswipe accidents

Identified Problems

    • Only 2 southbound lanes between N. 115th and N. 145th St.
    • Narrow lanes and narrow or non-existent sidewalks
    • Sidewalk, curb, and gutter are not present in most areas
    • Limited number of pedestrian crossing opportunities
    • Numerous uncontrolled left-turn locations


Other Issues

King Co. Traffic Safety Coalition has identified the SR 99 corridor a an alcohol awareness emphasis area due to the high number of alcohol-related accidents.


Long-term Options with Roadway Redevelopment

    • Continuous median with left-turn lane pockets from N. 110th St. to N. 145th St.
    • Widening of travel lanes to mitigate sideswipe accidents
    • Addition of curbs and sidewalk between N. 115th St. and N. 145th St. as funding is available
    • Transit speed and reliability improvements
