Overview
Completed a seismic retrofit of the Aurora Bridge on SR 99 to meet current earthquake standards.
 | Improves Safety
While there's no such thing as "earthquake proof", the seismic retrofit brings the Aurora Bridge up to current earthquake standards. These standards allow bridges to resist a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
|
 | Relieves Congestion
Strengthening the bridge reduces the likelihood of a closure after a major earthquake.

Partnerships & Cooperation
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan. The limits of this project did not fall within tribal lands.
