Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2005

Project Title & Location
SR900 / SE 78th Vic to Newport Way Vic Widening --    in Issaquah

Project Description
This project will widen SR 900 from SE 78th vicinity north to Newport Way from 2 to 4 lanes and a two way left turn lane. The purpose is to add width and capacity to SR 900 to improve operations and safety.

Project not yet advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
New Right of Way plans have been submitted to HQ for approval.  Channelization plans have been submitted for review to NW Region Traffic.  Washington State Parks has approved a site within Lake Sammamish State Park to mitigate for wetland and sensitive areas impacted by this project.  Discussions have been held with the Multi Agency Permitting Team regarding preliminary designs for fish passable culverts and stream mitigation.  A Cost Risk Assessment workshop was held to evaluate project costs.  The initial results show the project estimate to be over the budgeted amount.  The project is being reviewed to identify cost saving opportunities.

Design Construction Impacts
Working with the city of Issaquah to determine final channelization layout and location of pedestrian facilities.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Discussing phosphorus removal requirements with permitting agency to determine impacts on size of stormwater treatment ponds.

Impacts to Traffic
This project is targeted to improve efficiency of traffic operation.   Construction will require non-peak lane closures and temporary detours.
