Design Construction Impacts

There is a potential risk for schedule and cost impacts for Wall 1 widening work due to limited work space, nearby sensitive areas, offsite and ground water.  We are working with the Contractor to minimize these impacts.

The contractor has recently submitted additional cost to the project due to design errors and ommissions, force account impacts, and unit price renegotiation for overrun bid items.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

Due to potential environmental risk for Wall 1 and SR522 Off-Ramp work during the wet winter months, WSDOT have suspended this work until Spring 2007.  We are working with the contractor to provide additional BMPs and minimize this risk

Impacts to Traffic

Traffic has experienced narrower lanes and shoulders, slower speeds and occasional stopped traffic in construction work zones during the daytime.  Some night and weekend lane and roadway closures occurred during construction period.  A comprehensive public information effort to share timing of construction activities and traffic impacts has occurred.
