*Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending March 2004*

Project Title & Location SR 9 – SR 522 to 212th St. SE; Widening (Stages 1b & 2), North Woodinville	Project Description This project adds lanes and enhances safety on 1.8 miles of congested state highway.
Contractor/Consultant Project not yet advertised or awarded.
Recent Progress WSDOT has identified right of way needs and is now appraising and purchasing parcels. WSDOT continues the process of obtaining environmental permits. Channelization plans have been changed to reflect the installation of a raised median. WSDOT is coordinating with Snohomish County and Brightwater regarding the proposed wastewater treatment plant.
Design Construction Impacts In response to high traffic volumes and safety considerations, channelization plans have been revised to include a raised median barrier. WSDOT has initiated a public information effort to communicate these changes to affected roadway users. Fliers have been mailed to affected residents and business owners and the first of several public open house meetings has been held. The formal announcement by King County of the Brightwater site selection adjoining this section of SR 9 is providing opportunity for cooperative effort and coordination with Brightwater and Snohomish County.
Environmental Impacts / Compliance No significant impacts. This project will meet all applicable permit requirements and avoid any stream or wetland impacts where possible or mitigate for the impact through the creation or enhancement of new wetlands. This project will construct storm water facilities to treat for quality and quantity. Construction will incorporate use of temporary erosion control measures to minimize impacts.	Impacts to Traffic Construction will start in the summer of 2005. Traffic will experience narrower lanes and shoulders, slower speeds and occasional stopped traffic in construction work zones during the daytime. Also, some night and weekend lane and roadway closures may occur during the construction period. All 4 lanes should be open to traffic by summer 2007.

Preparation of key permit submittal packages continues by engineering and environmental staff. This is a critical item to meet the contract advertisement date.
Update Proposed Channelization	Fall 2003	Winter 2003	Channelization plans have been updated to accomodate higher traffic volumes.
Right of Way Purchased	Spring 2005		WSDOT has retained a real estate consultant to meet peak workload demands for acquisition. This will continue to be a critical item to meet the contract advertisement date.
