We are widening two miles of SR 9 from a two lane road to a four lane divided highway between SR 522 north of Woodinville to just north of SR 524 (Maltby Road).
March - April 2007

Crews closed SR 524 from SR 9 to SR 522 from Friday night, March 30 to Monday morning, April 2 to install a new culvert under SR 524 at Whistle Creek.

They dug over nine feet deep to make room for the new, larger culvert. Measuring in at 8 feet wide, 6 feet tall and 64 feet long, the new culvert dwarfs the old culvert, which was only 18 inches in diameter.

The new culvert will help fish as they migrate and spawn. Crews installed 73 tons of stream bed cobbles to create natural currents and eddies.

Crews filled in the dirt and repaved the road in time to open SR 524 two hours ahead of schuedule.
