SR 9 / 176th to Marsh Road
South Snohomish

Project Description
This project will widen SR 9 to four lanes between SR 96 and Marsh Road. A traffic signal will be installed at 164th St SE and the clear zone will be upgraded. Other improvements include upgrading the existing lighting and traffic signals and modifying the drainage system at each intersection. When complete this project will increase traffic flow and enhance motorist safety along the SR 9 corridor between Clearview and Snohomish.

Recent Progress
Construction commenced on April 28, 2008
Installed BMPs and HV fence
Completed Stream 3 relocation
Completed 84" Twin Culvert Extension
Paved eastside of SR9 between Broadway and Marsh Road
Completed foundation excavation for SEW Wall 4 and 5 at Aiport Rd and Springhetti Rd

 

Design Construction Impacts
There are several construction issues that may have cost impacts.
- Price Adjustment for fuel and asphalt cost
- Bid item over-runs (Quarry Spalls, Temporary Concrete Barrier, Impact Attenuator)
- Plans Revisions (drainage, wall)
- Work that has no pay item (removing paint line, saw cutting)
- Authorized CE budget may not be enough to administer the project

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

No reportable inciddent. 

Impacts to Traffic
Traffic may experience narrower lanes and shoulders and slower speeds in construction zones.  Some night and weekend lane and roadway closures may occur.
