SR 704 - Cross Base Highway, Spanaway

Project Description
When completed this project will provide a direct east-west highway connecting I-5 and SR 7. The Cross-Base Highway will be a new six mile, four lane limited access highway with four signalized intersections and two new interchanges.

Recent Progress
Pierce County is the lead agency on this project until completion of the environmental documentation, with a  Record of Decision now expected July 2004.  WSDOT is currently information gathering and work planning to prepare to lead the project into the Design Phase after the Environmental Documentation is complete.

The Record of Decision has been delayed from June 2004 to July 2004 as Pierce County engineers address impacts the project will have on a Bald Eagle that has recently created a nest on the proposed alignment.
