Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2008

Project Title & Location
SR 704 - Cross-Base Highway, Project 1 - Spanaway Loop Road to SR 7

Project Description
When completed this project will provide a direct east-west highway connecting I-5 and SR 7. The Cross-Base Highway will be a new six mile, four lane limited access highway with four signalized intersections and two new interchanges.

Contractor/Consultant
Ceccanti, Inc.

Recent Progress
Two successful weekend closures occurred in October. The travelling public is currently driving on the new alignment. The stormwater ponds and drainage features are currently being installed. The shafts for the noise walls will start in mid-November.

Design Construction Impacts
To date the project has been constructed as designed with only minor changes.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Project 1 has minimal impacts to the environment and the proper measures are being implemented as part of the construction.

Impacts to Traffic
Most of the construction work will be completed during the day and will cause minimal distruptions to traffic.  Nighttime lane closures will be required during certain phases of the work.
