SR 539 - Tenmile to International Border

Project Description
Widening Guide Meridian Road to four lanes will increase safety and traffic capacity along this heavily-traveled traffic corridor. This widening work will also provide an additional lane of traffic in each direction along a major freight corridor between Bellingham and Aldergrove, British Columbia.

Contractor/Consultant
KPFF has been selected as the design consultants

Recent Progress

KPFF has been selected as the consultant to update the Environmental Assessment that was done in the middle 1990's and complete the preliminary engineering studies.

The Consultant scope of work is currently being written.  KPFF is expected to be able to start design work at the beginning of March.

Design Construction Impacts
There are currently no known issues that would affect scope, schedule or budget.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
An Environmental Assessment was completed with a finding of "no significant impact" in 1998.  These documents are being updated.
